Terms and Conditions

To meet the requirements and expectations of the customer, Plumbingbird aims to complete work to a high standard, from start to completion. However, certain terms and conditions need to be applied to cover any misconceptions, both during and after work has been carried out:

"The customer" A person whom has requested the company's services with the intention of making payment within days, from the date of satisfactory completion.

"The company" Plumbingbird

"Plumbing work" Work carried out on pipe runs to serve an existing or installed appliance

"Appliance" A product of use within the bathroom/kitchen/utility/airing cupboard, which requires pipe work in order for it to have full use, ie basins/baths/showers/toilets/bidets/taps/showers/hot water cylinders/loft tanks/boilers/radiators.

All plumbing work is guaranteed for a maximum of  6 calendar months from the date of completion. Therefore, if there are any leaks or other concerns regarding the recent plumbing work within the guarantee period and the company confirms and accepts responsibility for this, we are more than happy to rectify the problem, free of charge and ASAP.

If a functional fault is found on an appliance after installation, which has not been supplied by the company, additional labour cost to rectify or replace that item will be applied.

The company does not charge a call-out fee. Labour is initiated by the customers' consent to go ahead with the required work. The current, minimum charge for each first hour appointment slot is £80, which supports: liability insurance, professional fees, travel costs, investigation, diagnosis, expert advice and manual labour. Up to a 20% mark-up will be applied to trade parts/materials to cover ordering/collection costs.

Diagnostic work on boilers and unvented cylinders is often deduced by a process of elimination, which involves replacing the most likely faulty part(s). The labour time taken to reach the diagnosis will therefore be included if the outcome remains the same. However, the company will aim to reach a diagnosis as accurately and quickly as possible and referrals will be made if necessary with the home owners' consent.

If your boiler is over 10 years old, you will be advised whether repairing it is the most economical option, depending on whether it has been maintained annually or not. New boilers carry lengthy warranties of up to 12 years for labour and parts, therefore it may be worth considering this option before spending your money on an old boiler which may take several costly attempts to fix and also having the worry that something else could break down within a short space of time afterwards!

Discounts will be offered to loyal customers with my appreciation!
